Information on the meeting held between the Georgian and Bulgarian Foreign Ministers
On the 11th of July 2013 in Batumi, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Ms Maia Panjikidze, met her Bulgarian counterpart, Mr Kristian Vigenin, during his first visit to Georgia. Mr Vigenin is also due to attend the 10th Jubilee International Conference on "Georgia's European Way" on the 12th of July.
The two ministers discussed prospects for future bilateral and multilateral co-operation between Bulgaria and Georgia, ongoing reforms, Georgia's relations with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU), as well as Georgia's European aspirations and the progress it has so far made in this respect. The two also focused upon the need to develop economic relations between their two countries.
Ms Panjikidze and Mr Vigenin also touched upon various international issues, including Georgian-Russian relations and the current situation in Georgia's occupied territories. The Bulgarian Foreign Minister reaffirmed his government's support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for Georgia's integration with European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
The meeting was followed by a joint press conference.
